St. James Hotel Hosts Monthly Book Signings by Regional Authors
May Features Lou Nanne signing Minnesota North Stars:
History and Memories with Lou Nanne on May 31st
The St. James Hotel is continuing its successful series of monthly book signings by regional authors throughout 2008 at Clara’s Gifts & Coffee, the courtyard shop which serves up Starbucks coffee and sells gift items, apparel, magazines and books by local and regional authors. Lou Nanne will sign Minnesota North Stars: History and Memories with Lou Nanne on Saturday, May 31st from 12-2 pm. This book, written by Bob Showers based on conversations with Lou Nanne, records the legacy of Minnesota’s first NHL franchise, which was moved from Bloomington, MN to Dallas after the 1992-93 season. Through 600 vintage photos, official team stats and the wonderful storytelling of Lou Nanne, the book captures the rich and colorful history of the North Stars. This book would make an ideal Father’s Day gift for Dad or Grandpa.
Hockey legend Lou Nanne is considered the ultimate authority of the Minnesota North Stars. He began his NHL career with the team in 1968, after serving as captain for the U.S Olympic Team. He spent his entire career in Minnesota playing 635 NHL regular season games for the Stars in 1968-78. Nanne went on to work as General Manager and Coach of the North Stars, helping the team to reach the Stanley Cup finals in 1981 and the semi finals in 1984. He resigned from the team in 1988 and continues to broadcast for the Minnesota State High School League Hockey Tournaments.
Future signings will feature Jim Reiley signing Fool’s Gold: All that Glitters on June 21st and Barry Casselman signing North Star Rising, Minnesota Politicians on the National Stage on Saturday, July 26.
